I Make Music.

I figure I should start with a polite introduction. Hello, *firm handshake*, my name is Jay Lancaster, how about that weather? Oh, you got flooded out by Hurricane Earl. I’m so sorry, we’ve gotten off on the wrong foot completely, I don’t. OK. Well, while your back’s turned to me, I’m just gonna talk.

Ben, a webmaster of this pretty little site, has been friends with me for some time now. He watched my videos on YouTube (I was a mildly successful vlogger back in the day, I don’t do it anymore for many reasons), and then we just kind of connected that way. Anyways, he just asked me to write about the music I make.

I’ve been playing piano since I was 7. I had this really awesome mentor of a piano teacher, Angela, who got me on my songwriting feet. I would come in to her studio once a week, and I would just show her one or two new songs that I had written. She liked them all, she always provided positive energy and good feedback. Not to say that she wouldn’t also provide the occasional harsh criticism, or that she didn’t give suggestions for improvement, because she did both of these as well. She was my whole audience; not even my parents would hear what I wrote. A couple years ago, she moved to Georgia and I don’t think I’ve ever been the same since.
